Green Port - Black Boats
This project is the first of a two stage project proposed by regional port companies and the engineering sector to assess the feasibility of a major redevelopment of marine engineering facilities in Nelson and Picton, and specifically to:
- Develop an environmentally-certified centre for marine and general engineering, workboat refits, and new commercial boat design and build, servicing the fishing and aquaculture industries, defence patrol tug workboat and pilotage vessels, ferries and tourism vessels at Port Nelson
- Become a regional centre for the oil and gas industry’s marine onshore maintenance, repair and training requirements
- Develop capability in mega-structure design and build including energy, defence, wind power, and major infrastructure blocks demanding sea-side construction and barge delivery
- Develop a Facilities Conceptual Master Plan for improved haul-out and servicing facilities in Picton to service offshore cruising yachts.
Project Braveheart Wine Distribution
Through the Marlborough District Council, an NZTE-funded project is being undertaken to support our region's SME wineries as they address the challenge of finding appropriate export channels into the US market. Several high profile wineries are involved. The project team are working with international experts in the sector to formulate a strategic plan for overseas sales, marketing and brand management.
The EDA is providing contract management assistance to the MDC for this regionally valuable work.
