Nelson Tasman Business Trust is a Charitable Trust offering free, confidential advice services to local businesses through the Nelson Tasman region - small to medium size, new and existing.

Nelson Tasman Business Trust is an Agency for Business Mentors New Zealand with 85 volunteer mentors from throughout the region.Mentors have a variety of business skills and expertise from a wide variety of backgrounds, with an understanding of the challenges facing small businesses and a real commitment to giving something back to the business community.Approximately 150 busineses benefit annually from mentoring. To be eligible a business should have been trading for a least 6 months and employ less than 25 staff.

The Kiwi Innovation Network (KiwiNet) is a consortium of Universities and Crown Research Institutes (CRIs) working together in an unprecedented level of collaboration, knowledge and capability sharing in New Zealand. KiwiNet’s goal is to increase the scale and impact of commercialisation through greater collaboration across public research organisations and connections in the private sector.

With the KiwiNet members alone accounting for a combined annual research investment of greater than $500 million, KiwiNet will act as a hub for research commercialisation in New Zealand. KiwiNet aims to provide a focal point for collaboration across the national innovation system that includes research institutions, industry, investors, entrepreneurs, regional centres, international partners and many others.

New Zealand Trade & Enterprise (NZTE)

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is the Government's national economic development agency. It works to stimulate economic growth by increasing the number and size of New Zealand businesses operating successfully - from starting out, to exporting and operating as international businesses, through training and market development assistance. NZTE services, which include programmes to build international contacts, improve performance and provide access to capital and investment, are tailored to business needs. It is a global organisation and uses its overseas networks to provide the international connections businesses need to grow internationally and to attract investment into New Zealand.

Regional Business Partner Network

NZ Trade & Enterprise and TechNZ have appointed 14 Regional Business Partners to work with businesses around New Zealand. As one of these Regional Business Partners, the Nelson Regional EDA, in conjunction with Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce and the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce, work to support business growth and innovation in the Top of the South (Te Tau Ihu) region.

The Regional Business Partners provide businesses with a range of advice and access to funding and support focused on assisting them to grow. Support is focused on helping develop management capability & skills, and on help for R&D.
